Many people who are traveling around Andalucia ask; is a trip to Nerja worth it? In a word, YES! Here are our two reasons why...
- First, when people plan a trip to Andalucia, they make time for popular cities like Cordoba, Malaga and Granada. These are all
amazing places to visit (and we encourage you to see them all) but keep in mind that the smaller 'white villages'
have a special charm that cities don't have.
When visiting Malaga, for example, most people go directly to Granada and pass right by Nerja. This is a shame because the village of Nerja, and its neighbor Frigiliana, are the most beautiful villages in the Costa del Sol (except maybe for Mijas). Frigiliana has even been selected as one of Spain's prettiest villages. This area is far less developed than the areas around Malaga and Marbella and known for the stunning beauty of its wide sandy beaches and the surrounding mountains.
- Second, the Nerja Caves are one in a million! These caves are so unique that they are listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. The inner chambers are massive and contain interesting relics and cave paintings that date back to Paleolithic times. You can't miss them!
